After Disney shocked the world by buying Lucasfilm last year, there has been relatively little official Star Wars Episode VII news to be revealed this year. Sure, we learned that J.J. Abrams would be directing, but it’s still unofficial if the original Star Wars cast will be returning. However, Collider.com has a little bit of new Star Wars Episode VII news from someone who would definitely be in a position to know what’s going on with the film. Producer Bryan Burk said, “We’re progressing on a schedule to hopefully begin next year, or the beginning of next year, and the location is still kind of floating around in the air all depending on script and a whole bunch of other issues.ย As I just said, everything is kind of a free-flowing thing, and when we feel like the story level on this script and everything is really coming together and schedules are all working and pieces line up, we prowl ahead, and Star Wars will be no different.”Disney CEO Bob Iger has been pretty clear when talking about Star Wars Episode VII that Disney is targeting a summer 2015 release date for the film, so we would expect J.J. Abrams would need to get cameras rolling very early in 2014 to have any chance of hitting that date. With Avengers 2 also scheduled for summer 2015, Star Wars Episode VII would pretty much ensure that Disney would put up some very good numbers for stockholders that year.
