In the final “Rebels Recon” aftershow of Star Wars Rebels season two, cast and crew talked about the momentous season finale and its huge consequences for the show. But Lucasfilm Star Wars Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo and showrunner Dave Filoni also gave some teases for season three.

“Over the course of the next season, we’re going to start seeing more and more recognizable elements; we’re going to see more of the Rebellion that we recognize in Episode IV and in Rogue One taking shape in Rebels,” Hidalgo teased.
“Something big is gonna happen,” Filoni said vaguely “that I think people really, really want, and that I know I’ve wanted for awhile. We figured out a way to do it. It’s a very important moment for Star Wars and very important for Star Wars fans.” Filoni also said that he’ll “talk about that specifically” at Star Wars Celebration Europe in July, giving fans a specific timeframe for new information.
Other teases for season three included Kanan becoming “more reliant on the Force,” thanks to his new affliction. Actor Freddie Prinze, Jr. says season 3 will directly address “how you react to that kind of beating” that they received in season 2. Sabine “gets to go on some very crazy adventures with people you might not expect,” Tiya Sircar teased, and Ezra’s voice Taylor Gray teased that Maul and Ezra’s relationship isn’t over.
Star Wars Rebels Season 3 does not yet have a release date, but will air later this year on Disney XD.
