The Force is strong in the United Kingdom. Star Wars: The Force Awakens broke opening day records in the U.K., making $14.3 million on its opening day on Thursday.

The film also broke the U.K. record for midnight showings, taking in $3.6 million at those screenings alone.
The U.K. numbers follow the $14.1 million the film made with the combined box office takes from 12 other markets.
This is just the latest, and probably not the last, box office record that Star Wars: The Force Awakens has bested, having already broken pre-sale records leading into its release.
