“I want to start out by saying something to the other nominees in the category,” said Parsons. “To say that I watch your work and I feel inspired is a bit of an understatement. I watch you work, and all of you, I see people doing things that I couldn’t do. I see people doing things that I wouldn’t do. I see people doing things in all serious that are so divergent and all over the place. And all of us doing such different things that I do pray to do one day. I really do. But that’s the landscape we live in, and this is all a long way of saying, “There’s no accounting for taste, and through a lot of good fortune I stand up here tonight.”
After thanking Warner Bros., CBS and his producers, Parsons added that he wanted to thank someone that he had never thanked before, because he passed away before all this craziness started.
“My father, Mickey Parsons, he was alwaysโฆhe encouraged me to be an actor. He never discouraged me to be an actor. And in a career that hinges so much on confidence a lot of the time, that was a really great gift,” said Parsons.
