“For a few hours it was literally like, ‘Oh, my God, was I awful? Why did they cut me? What are people going to think?’” She admitted. “I woke up the next morning and I was like, ‘O.K., it makes total sense.’ I’m a pretty spiritual person, so I can just sit back and trust that everything happens for a reason, even if my ego doesn’t like it.”

In the time since then, of course, Divergent‘s sequels have been greenlit and follow-up interviews have suggested that Woodley could pull out of the Spider-Man franchise altogether, since she says working on two massive summer tentpole franchises would be nearly impossible from a logistical point of view (actors have been known to do it, but generally not if they’re the central lead in one of the franchises).

Fans were not kind to the actress, with a lot of the online chatter centering around the fact that she didn’t look like a supermodel (which MJ is in the comics) next to the “girl next door” Gwen Stacy, given how glamorous Stone is.
