In a plot-heavy episode, it was not a big week for Easter eggs on The Flash. There were some pop-culture references, and another season two recurring guest star name-dropped so that we know what her Earth-2 life is like, but beyond that, it’s more or less a pretty quiet week.

So we’ll cover a few of the one s that have already been covered before just to fill out the list for anybody just finding this feature, but if you’re a regular reader, just know the pickings are kind of slim.
So…what’d we see? What’d we miss?
Read on, and comment below.
ESCAPE FROM…
The title has just that sense of high adventure to it, and we’re guessing it’s a wink and a nod to the great ’80s action franchise starring Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken.
Of course, given the staging area of Zoom’s lair, it could be a nod to Escape From Witch Mountain…!
NEWS 52
Back to this, yep.
News 52, the 24-hour news station of the Arrowverse named for DC’s 2011 “New 52” reboot, makes yet another appearance in tonight’s episode of The Flash.
I think this week might actually be the first time that somebody associated with Channel 52 actually said the name of the network on the air, though…!
HENRY HEWITT
We saw Henry Hewitt — who, on Earth-1, was the villain Tokamak — last week as Harrison Wells’s lab assistant.
This week, he’s back in the mix…and he’s showing some fierce loyalty to Wells, even in the face of an attack from Zoom.
HEAVY
“Whoa, this is heavy,” Cisco says when they start getting into the nitty gritty of Earth-2.
Which, given the head-trip nature of what he was talking about, feels a bit like a nod to Marty McFly, who said that a few times in the first Back to the Future movie when things started to get hair or time-travel paradoxes started to confuse him.
WANTED POSTERS
In Barry’s office on Earth-2, we get a good look at a bunch of wanted posters in the background, centered on metahumans we’ve seen already, like Doctor Light, Atom-Smasher, Zoom and more.
Can you spot any that haven’t already appeared on Earth-1?
PATTY SPIVOT
Apparently on this world, Patty never got sideracked by her father’s murder and is already a successful CSI by now.
GEOMANCER
For the second week in a row, we get some Geomancer action going on in the Earth-1 storyline, where he faces off, first against Jay Garrick and then later against Caitlin Snow.
In the comics, Geomancer is foe of the Justice Society’s, co-created by DC Chief Creative Officer and The Flash executive producer Geoff Johns. Adam Fells was a big fish in a small pond until he joined up with the Injustice Society and bad things started to befall him, building to his death.
A successor came along, taking up the name and costume, but didn’t make many appearances before the New 52 reboot.
ELSA
“It’s a work in progress, Elsa,” Cisco tells Killer Frost when she mocks him about not being able to use his powers to their full potential.
The comparison of Killer Frost to Elsa — what with the bleached-out hair and all — is probably the easiest 1:1 pop culture reference yet in the series.
GOD OF WAR
When they get to Zoom’s lair, Cisco calls the wall of rock the “Cliffs of Insanity.”
That’s likely a nod to the “Cliffs of Madness,” as seen in God of War.
If that image above wasn’t a clear enough indicator there’s probably a connection, there’s the fact that the “official” name given is Ascension Cliffs — as in, God of War: Ascension, we’re guessing.
Of course, there’s also this:

Uh.. “Cliffs of Insanity” is in reference to Princess Bride. Serious loss of geek credibility right there.
