To save Professor Stein, the team needs to find him a new Firestorm partner. Caitlin is especially concerned about who can take Ronnie’s place, but time and potential replacements are limited. Meanwhile Patty and Barry’s friendship continues to grow, and Joe and Iris figure out how to deal with the newest shake-up in their lives.

This is very much a Caitlin episode, and Danielle Panabaker gives a lovely performance. This is not the hurt and sad Caitlin of season one. Panabaker excels at showing Caitlin dealing with the loss of Ronnie a second time, but in a totally different way that fits her new life perfectly.

Also worth noting are guest stars Demore Barnes and Franz Drameh as potential Firestorm candidates Henry Hewitt and Jefferson Jax Jackson. Both of them are total stand outs. As is Candice Patton, showcasing Iris’ personal dilemma beautifully. And continuing to add a funny and adorable factor is Shantel VanSanten as Patty.

But the true star of the week is Victor Garber. Stein has grown into a lovely and fascinating character, who fits in so well with Team Flash that it seems a shame for him to leave. Though of course, it will be a joy to watch him on Legends of Tomorrow.

The first season of The Flash felt like a high-octane footrace. Rather than let up, the race has continued without slowdown in season two, and shows no sign of stopping. “The Fury of Firestorm” is a delightful ride, with an extraordinary final couple of minutes that are not to be missed!
