Sony Pictures Entertainment has released a pair of character vignettes, introducing Denzel Washington’s Sam Chisolm and Chris Pratt’s Josh Farraday, for their upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven.
“Faraday is a bit of a fox,” Pratt says of his character in ‘The Gambler’ vignette. “He’s a trickster. He’s a gambler, a drinker. He loves the ladies. But he’s deadly in a fire fight.” Washington says of his co-star, “Chris, you know, a lot of talent on-screen. He’s really a good dude. I like him a lot.”

“The character’s name is Sam Chisolm,” Washington says of his character in ‘The Bounty Hunter’ vignette. “He’s a duly sworn warrant officer from Wichita, Kansas.” Director Antoine Fuqua adds, “He’s a bounty hunter, if you will, who goes after bad guys.”
Director Antoine Fuqua brings his modern vision to a classic story in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ and Columbia Pictures’ The Magnificent Seven. With the town of Rose Creek under the deadly control of industrialist Bartholomew Bogue (Peter Sarsgaard), the desperate townspeople employ protection from seven outlaws, bounty hunters, gamblers and hired guns โ Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington), Josh Farraday (Chris Pratt), Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), Jack Horne (Vincent D’Onofrio), Billy Rocks (Byung-Hun Lee), Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), and Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier). As they prepare the town for the violent showdown that they know is coming, these seven mercenaries find themselves fighting for more than money.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, based on a screenplay by Nic Pizzolatto and Richard Wenk. The film’s produced by Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black. Walter Mirisch, Antoine Fuqua, Bruce Berman, and Ben Waisbren serve as Executive Producers.
The Magnificent Seven is set for release September 23, 2016.
