Two years ago, Community narrowly beat out AMC’s The Walking Dead to take the title in Hulu’s fan-voted “Best in Show” competition (in which they team with The Onion’s AV Club to determine the 16 best shows on TV and then do a March Madness-style, month-long competition to see who comes out on top). Last year, Community steamrolled it on the way to a second victory in a row in 2013.Apparently that’s enough to knock cable’s top-rated show out of the bracket entirely in 2014, as The Walking Dead is notably absent in a field that includes genre-friendly offerings like Orphan BlackGame of Thrones and Arrow. That’s right, Arrow. In its second year, the hit CW series based on DC Comics’s Green Arrow is the only comic book adaptation in the competition, with Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. also excluded from consideration. Ratings juggernaut The Big Bang Theory is similarly excluded, meaning that between it and The Walking Dead, the two best-rated shows on TV aren’t something you can vote on to determine what the best show on TV is.
