According to Variety, former NFL superstar Tony Gonzalez has joined the cast of xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, but they provided no details on his role.

Gonzalez, a former All-Pro tight end who spent his 17-year career playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons, has dabbled in acting. In 2014, he played Special Agent Tony Francis on one episode of CBS’ NCIS. xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will mark his feature film debut.

D.J. Caruso (I Am Number Four) is directing xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage. The film is written by Chad St. John (London Has Fallen) with current revisions by F. Scott Frazier (Collide).
xXx: The Return of Xander Cage is hitting theaters January 20, 2017.
