Detroit loves themselves some Transformers. The newest entry, Transformers 5, is now committed to shooting in Detroit, Michigan, and will help the city in a myriad of ways with its presence. Paramount also shot most of Transformers 4 in the city as well.

The state will reap rewards financially, as Michigan will save an estimated $21 million in incentives. Not only that, but the state gets an employment boost as well, with Transformers 5 looking to hire around 450 Michigan residents, along with possibly more filling the roles of extras. “Michigan has been so welcoming of Michael Bay and the ‘Transformers’ movies over the years and we are thrilled to be returning for this next incredible installment,” said Lee Rosenthal, president of Physical Production at Paramount Pictures, in a statement.

Film office director Jenell Leonard praised the reallocation, saying in the announcement, “Having one of the highest-profile film franchises created in Michigan is a major economic boost and a testament to the talent of the state’s production community.”

All of this was able to happen due to when the agreement was in place. These programs were stopped as of 2015, but because the agreement was made before then, Paramount and the state were able to adapt the plan a bit and make it work.
