The film, on pace to become the top-grossing film of the year so far, is sitting on a worldwide haul of over $630 million in spite of a mountain of negative reviews. Recently, director Michael Bay became the second-highest-grossing director of all time in the U.S.

After opening huge two weeks ago, it took the #1 spot in a weak Independence Day weekend last week. This week’s #1 movie, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, will open with around $70 million, compared to a bit less than $20 million for Transformers this weekend.
