UP NEXT: Brand-New Super Saiyan State In Dragon Ball Super

Recently, Dragon Ball Heroes released its newest line-up of character cards. The popular Japanese arcade game debuted back in 2010, and an update last year brought in a slew of Dragon Ball Super cards to the franchise. In the coming months, new card sets will debut with some fan-favorite characters, and one of them will be Trunks in his new Super Saiyan state. According to the game’s official site, Trunks’ new form is called none other than Super Saiyan Rage.

Over on Twitter, @DragonBallRedux posted a screenshot of the digital card’s title which can be seen below. The name’s translation means Super Saiyan Rage (่ถ…ใ‚ตใ‚คใƒคไบบๆ€’ใ‚Š), so fans now know what its official name is. Originally, fans had speculated the title would be something like Super Saiyan Anger, so their predictions were fairly close.

Right now, there’s no definitive power level for Super Saiyan Rage, but fans do know it is powerful. Dragon Ball Super tends to gloss over power levels during battle sequences, but Trunks was able to go toe-to-toe with Goku Black in the new state. In terms of power ranking, it seems like Super Saiyan Rage lies somewhere between Super Saiyan 3 and Super Saiyan God.

And, of course, Dragon Ball is no stranger to anger boosting up Super Saiyan states. Towards the beginning of Dragon Ball Super, Vegeta got a rage boost while fighting Beerus after the God of Destruction slapped his wife Bulma. In fact, Goku went Super Saiyan because he was enraged over Krillin’s brutal death at the hands of Frieza.

In February, a brand-new story arc for Dragon Ball Super is set to kick off with the ‘Universal Survival’ saga. You can check out the brief synopsis for it below:

“At Goku’s request, the Omni-Kings’ “Tournament of Power” martial arts tournament between universes now begins! โ€ฆBut this also proves to be the beginning of universal destruction. What awaits the victors of this tournament, and the vanquishedโ€ฆ?! How will these intense team battles between the elites of each universe turn outโ€ฆ?!”

Shortly after the arc was announced, producer Shunki Hashizume had this to say about the impending saga. “Dragon Ball Super enters its new chapter, the “Universe Survival Arc”. As you can see from the main visual, it’ll be a full-throttle story where Goku and the rest of the Universe 7 warriors form a team to take on a tournament between universes!” he wrote.
