According to MyEntertainmentWorld – a casting source – the movie will begin filming in Columbia late this Spring. In addition to this notice, the site also revealed a small synopsis for Uncharted.

“A descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray.”

This plot makes a lot of sense to fans of the game franchise, as it follows the same story as the game’s first installment. The franchise just released its fourth game in 2016, so there is plenty of story left to tell if the film is successful.

Uncharted has been written by Joe Carnahan, a veteran scribe whose credits include The A-Team, The Grey, Smokin’ Aces, and The Blacklist. Carnahans script will be directed by Shawn Levy, who has sat in the director’s chair for Night At The Museum, Real Steel, Date Night, and Stranger Things.

With the film set to start production in a couple of months, some casting information should probably be on the way. No official release date has been revealed as of yet.
