Unity #1 From Valiant Tops All 2013 “Non-Premier” Comics Sales

#1 from Valiant Entertainment was the direct market’s top-selling single issue comic book from a non-Premier Publisher, Diamond Comics Distributors reported today.To accomplish that feat, the issue–the 235th best-selling comic of the year overall–sold through its substantial print run of around 70,000 issues back in November and came back for more.It also outsold comics with mainstream media tie-ins like Regular Show and Sons of Anarchy, both of which made the top 10 at #2 and #8, respectively.Other publishers in the top ten include Archie Comics (Afterlife with Archie #1 ranked #3), Aspen (five titles,led by All-New Fathom #1 at #4), BOOM! Studios (two titles, led by Regular Show #1), and Dynamite Entertainment (Red Sonja #1 ranked #6).BOOM! Studios’ Adventure Time Volume 1, collecting the first sold-out issues of their hit series, was 2013’s best-selling non-premier graphic novel. In total, BOOM! had six Adventure Time titles in the year’s top ten.  Some top ten single issues–including Unity and Afterlife With Archie–haven’t yet wrapped their first arc, meaning that their first collected editions may rate on next year’s chart instead of this year’s.Diamond’s Premier Publishers are a select group of top-selling publishers who get preferred listing in a special section at the front of the monthly Previews catalog.Below, check out the top ten lists for both single issues and collected editions.
