It looks like some monkey business is coming to New York Comic Con next month – well, sort of. The cast of War For the Planet of the Apes will be making an exclusive appearance at the event to debut first-look footage from the film. The special panel will feature director Matt Reeves along with actor Andy Serkis and producer Dylan Clark.
If you’re one of the lucky attendees slated to visit NYCC, then you can plan on attending the panel on October 6 at 8:30 P.M. The special event will take fans on a behind-the-scenes journey as they learn how the blockbuster was produced. Unseen footage from the film will also be premiered at the panel, so fans can expect to see Caesar and his legion of gorilla soldiers practice guerilla warfare.

The announcement came along with the release of a synopsis for War For the Planet of the Apes. The description can be read below:
“In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”
Production on War For the Planet of the Apes began back in 2015 when director Matt Reeves confirmed shooting had started. He posted two behind-the-scene photos to his Twitter which showed actors wearing motion-capture suits. The scene was filmed in Vancouver on a beach where one actor can be seen approaching the other who is on horseback.
Last year, the folks behind the film even gave fans an opportunity to cameo in the film if they showed 20th Century Fox their best ape impression. Andy Serkis teamed up with Matt Reeves to create the contest. “We’re giving one lucky fan the chance to become an ape in Caesar’s greatest battle yet,” the actor said. “We’ll pick one winner to fly to set, wear a performance-capture suit, and be in a scene.”
War For the Planet of the Apes will follow after Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. The motion-capture series is a reboot of the classic franchise that debuted in 1968.
The newest installment features a star-stunned roster of actors. The cast includes Andy Serkis, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Gabriel Chavarria, Karin Konoval and Woody Harrelson.
War For the Planet of the Apes is scheduled for release on July 14, 2017.
