According to The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Studios has selected Marc Forster (World War Z, Quantum of Solace) to direct their new live-action Winnie the Pooh movie, which is actually titled Christopher Robin and focuses on an adult Christopher Robin revisiting the Hundred Acre Wood and its denizens — such as Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, and Owl.

The story centers on Robin, the adult version of the boy who in the A.A. Milne books shares his adventures with the animals of the Hundred Acre Wood. Robin has grown out of the joyful imagination he had as a young boy and is now a businessman who prioritizes work over his wife and daughter. With his home life on the brink, the last thing his life needs is the return of Pooh, who needs his help in finding his friends again. Robin has to find a way to help both sides or risk losing everything he holds dear.

The film — described as a “heartwarming adventure” with “strong elements of magical realism” — is being produced by Brigham Taylor (2016’s The Jungle Book) and is based on a script by Alex Ross Perry.

Winnie the Pooh was created in 1926 by A.A. Milne and has become one of the most beloved figures in all of children’s literature. Popularized by Disney’s animated films and television series, Pooh Bear has gone on to star in dozens of titles for both children and adults to love.
