Spoilers to follow, so be warned.

In Suicide Squad #2, the group infiltrated an underwater facility. They discovered an orb, and the always curious Digger Harkness, more commonly known as Captain Boomerang, couldn’t help but take a closer look. When he touched it, it reacted and by all accounts incinerated him, leaving only his smoking boots behind.

According to the latest cover reveal for Justice League vs. Suicide Squad #1 though (via Twitter), it appears he isn’t as dead as many believed. Harkness is shown on the lower right side fighting his longtime nemesis The Flash, but that hasn’t been revealed in the core Suicide Squad book. You can check out the cover in the gallery.

Justice League vs. Suicide Squad will be written by Joshua Williamson (The Flash) with art from the talented Jason Fabok (Justice League: Darkseid War). Williamson is excited to bring the two fan favorite teams together (via DC).

“I’m really excited about writing this story,” said Williamson. “This is a great opportunity to remind fans that, outside of Batman, the DC Universe isn’t aware that Task Force X or Amanda Waller even exists. To ultimately bring these villains to light for the entire DC Universe to see should make future Suicide Squad stories that much more interesting. And by the end of the story, both teams may discover that they have more in common than they thought, whether they like it or not.”

Justice League vs Suicide Squad begins this December.
