Sean Pertwee Teases Dick Grayson On Gotham

Over the course of three seasons, Gotham has featured the origins and creations of many different characters in the extended Batman mythos as Bruce Wayne and James Gordon approach their inevitable destinies.

But ever since the future parents of fan-favorite character Dick Grayson appeared on an episode in the first season, the show has yet to follow up with them or reveal anything about their parenthood.

Actor Sean Pertwee, who plays Alfred Pennyworth on the show, discussed the potential for the series to reveal a young Robin sometime in the future while speaking at a panel at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest in Nashville.

"She was pregnant when we saw her in the circus episode with Jerome, and presumably that's Robin there in the tummy,"Pertwee said. "We'll see if that comes back around."

Mary Lloyd and John Grayson were introduced as members of the Flying Graysons in Haly's Circus in the episode "The Blind Fortune Teller." Though they get engaged in the episode, the show doesn't explicitly reveal that Mary is pregnant — so either Pertwee was mistaken or they cut that out of the final version.

Either way, the possibility of a baby Nightwing would be awesome to see as Bruce Wayne goes further and further down the path of vigilantism toward becoming the Batman.

Maybe we'll see another visit to Haly's Circus when Gotham returns for Season 4 on FOX.

Gotham's origin story continues to unfold, and as the show enters its fourth season, the stakes will be higher than ever! With the Court of Owls decimated, the aftermath of the Tetch virus crippling the city, and every (surviving) villain in Gotham's underworld jockeying for power, Jim Gordon and the GCPD will have their hands full. And that's just the beginning! What threat does Ra's al Ghul pose, and will Penguin regain his title as the King of Gotham? What new villains are in store for season four, and what does Bruce Wayne's season finale reveal mean for Gotham City — and his ultimate destiny?

Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Maggie Geha as the future Poison Ivy, Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes, Benedict Samuel as Mad Hatter.
