Stephen Amell: Flashpoint "Certainly Could" Impact Arrow

While the smart money is on The Flash's trip into the world of DC Comics's Flashpoint making a negligible difference in the rest of The CW's superhero shows -- if any at all -- Arrow star Stephen Amell isn't ready to commit to that just yet.

During a Facebook Live broadcast yesterday, Amell mentioned the recent revelation that The Flash's Season Three premiere would be called "Flashpoint."

"That's sick, that's really cool," Amell said simply.

Later, when a fan asked him whether the events of The Flash might have an impact on Arrow, he said, "Don't know; certainly could."

In the comics, of course, Flashpoint served to launch The New 52, a publishign initiative that included shortening and modifying character histories, and rebooting the publishing line with 52 new #1 issues. The event, which took place in 2011, was just last month revealed to have been part of a plot by a mysterious force from another universe -- Doctor Manhattan of Watchmen fame -- to "steal" ten years from the DC heroes.

Some fans have speculated that it could be used to alter events in recent Arrow history, such as the death of Black Canary. Others have guessed it might merge the world of Supergirl with that of the other CW/DC shows, allowing for easier crossovers between the characters.

The Arrow Season 5 premiere will air Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice. To do this, he creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – and allies himself with former military man John Diggle (David Ramsey) and computer science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), while keeping his secret from those closest to him.
