Sinestro is a staple of DC comics, especially The Green Lantern series’, so casting that character will be a difficult task. They need an actor who can be smart, menacing, and overall ruthless, while still allowing fans to connect to the character on a deeper level.
Portraying Sinestro would be difficult, but there are five actors out there who we fell could really do the job.

Mark Strong
Mark Strong has an advantage here, as he’s already played Sinestro in a Green Lantern movie. The downside? He played in the Green Lantern movie.
Despite the film’s flaws, Mark Strong did a phenomenal job. If anything, his strong performance in such a weak film only proved how capable the actor can be.ย
Since the Green Lantern, Strong has taken on another comic franchise, showing that he can handle big roles in multiple films. The actor plays Merlin in the popular Kingsman franchise.
Look, Mark Strong deserves another shot as Sinestro, and everyone knows he could do a killer job.

Luke Evans
If you ask anyone in the nerd community, Luke Evans is their top choice to portray Sinestro in the DC Extended Universe.ย
The actor plays a terrifying villain, as many feared his character Owen Shaw in the Fast And Furious franchise. His take on Dracula also proved that Evans knows how to make audiences feel a connection to his characters, no matter how villainous. That’s important when portraying someone like Sinestro.
Acting aside, Evans just looks the part. That cheeky grin and menacing laugh are a perfect fir for the evil Sinestro. It’s a match made in heaven, and we could only be so lucky for DC to make it happen.
ย
Hugo Weaving
Hugo Weaving is incredibly talented, no one can deny that. The actor also boasts a resume featuring many different types of roles in larger-than-life film franchises.ย
From The Matrix, to V For Vendetta, to Lord Of The Rings, and even to Captain America, Weaving has shown there’s no where he doesn’t belong.
This kind of talent is rare, to the say the least. If Weaving could bring the same level of energy to Sinestro, that he did to The Red Skull, we’d be in for a serious treat.
ย
Viggo Mortensen
Speaking of Lord Of The Rings, Viggo Mortensen is due for a return to big-budget blockbusters. Sure, the actor has spokin ill of his experiences on the bigger sets, but a turn as one of DC’s most powerful villains could lure him back.
There are few actors with the amount of grit and terror surrounding their performances as Mortensen, but they are both skills that he has mastered over the years.
Viggo Mortensen also possesses the ability bring fans into the depth of his character, and that’s a difficult feat when playing a villain.
ย
Bryan Cranston
C’mon, who wouldn’t want to see Heisenberg take on the Green Lantern Corps?ย
Through his work on Breaking Bad, Bryan Cranston proved that he could handle any number of villains in comic book lore, and many fans are already upset that he hasn’t been cast already. Cranston was the fan-favorite choice to play Lex Luthor, but Zack Snyder elected to cast the role younger.
Could Sinestro be the ultimate consolation prize?
