Two weeks ago Casey Affleck revived the rumor that his brother, current Batman Ben Affleck, was leaving the DCEU and while reps for both Affleck brothers insisted that Ben wasn’t leaving and Casey wasn’t speaking from a place of authority, the younger Affleck is popping up in Batman’s world again.

A fan made image of Casey Affleck as Owlman surfaced in Reddit’s DC Cinematic community this weekend. You can check out the image below.
The image by user theBatFlashHunter appeared to a creative editing of an image of Patrick Wilson’s Nite Owl costume from Watchmen with Owlman’s symbol added to the chest and belt and Casey Affleck’s face edited in.
Casey Affleck’s name has been connected to the Owlman character as part of fantasy casting off and on within the DC fan community. In comics, Owlman is a supervillain and evil counterpart to Batman. Depending on what you’re reading, Owlman is either Bruce Wayne or Thomas Wayne Jr. from Earth-3. Instead of growing up to be a crime-fighting hero, Owlman was raised by the Court of Owls to be a vicious killer.
While not a well-known character, Owlman did recently pop up in a theory about what Fox’s Gotham might really be building up to, suggesting that the show is really an Owlman origin story and not a Batman one. However, the season 3 finale of Gotham put that theory to rest.
Rumors and theories aside, it’s interesting to see the brother of the current Batman done up as his brutal and wicked reflection.
Gotham will return for its fourth season on Thursday, September 21st, at 8pm EST.
