The CW has released a new sneak peek at tomorrow’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow — and in the clip, two new series regulars get most of the spotlight.

While Vixen — suspecting one of the Legends is responsible for the death of Hourman last week, stalks her way through the Waverider in the hopes of finding Mick Rory (apparently her suspect), Nate Heywood wakes up from his injuries to find out that things are…not the same.

“The comic and what we’re doing are a little different,” Zano told ComicBook.com this summer at Comic COn International: San Diego. “I remember when I got all the comics from DC, it was a guy who was addicated to painkillers, who was an amputee, and that’s not the history that we’re giving Nate.”

For a while there, it didn’t look like he was going to have super powers, either…but as you can see in the clip above, they clearly decided that was the way to go.

In the TV version of the mythology, Nate was a hemophiliac, who was badly injured rescuing his war hero, JSA member grandfather from a premature death. In spite of her sophisticated futuristic AI, Gideon was having trouble stabilizing him, and the least-worst option was for Ray Palmer to inject him with a serum he had developed to give himself powers.

Sacrificing his chance at superhuman abilities put Ray on the right side of JSA member Vixen, who previously had her doubts about the crew of the Waverider — and not entirely without good reason.

“This Legends team is sort of like the Bad News Bears of superheroes,” Zano told us. “This Season, I feel like there’s an embracing of it. it’s pretty awesome and fun and it doesn’t matter who they’re fighting because it’s fun watching them fight.”

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
