Connie Nielsen Reveals What Hippolyta Would Say To Wonder Woman On Her Return

While Wonder Woman possesses god-like powers, much of what actually makes her a superhero she gets from her mother, Hippolyta. That’s why it comes as such a shock to lose Diana to the outside world, but what would the Queen say upon her return?

That was the question posed to Hippolyta actress Connie Nielsen when ComicBook.com sat down with her recently. Nielsen said “After I get done hugging her forever (laughs), I think that you know she’s going to probably tell us to stop hiding, and stop being afraid of the world, that there is a world that changed out there.” The Amazons have many reasons to be cautious with mankind, and it’s through Diana that they’re able to see the best in them.

As for Nielson, she fell in love with the character during filming. When asked to describe the best parts about playing her, she had no trouble coming up with an answer.

“I think that Hippolyta is sort of like a dream character. I could literally just go on and on about her. She is a fantastic story in and of herself. She has an incredible backstory. There’s a beautiful story right there in front of her. She’s emotionally and intellectually engaging and then on top of that, she is this incredible, physical piece of acting. There’s this incredible physical bit of acting as well with all of the stunts, so all in all on so many different levels it was an interesting project for me.”

The DCEU continues with Wonder Woman opens in theaters on June 2, 2017, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
