In the first-half of the season, Jim Gordon spent most of his time hunting down the Indian Hill escapees (including Alice Tetch), getting his mind toyed with by the Mad Hatter, dating Valerie Vale, capturing mentally unsound Captain Barnes (infected by the virus of Alice Tetch), and killing Lee’s husband and Don Falcone’s only son, Mario (also infected). So what is Jim up to in the back-half of the season?

“He gets more and more deeply involved in the investigation of the Court of Owls storyline, a lot of which does involve the Falcone element,” executive producer John Stephens told TV Guide. “He has to negotiate his differences with Don Falcone in order to get deeper into the Court of Owls. He finds his own family connected and related to the Court of Owls. That’s a real revelation to him. It’s quite foundation shaking for Jim, that investigation. It turns out that he and Bruce — both of their storylines, which have not really been touching for a long time, start to come together in the latter part of this season where they both are in the Court of Owls story.”

Will that investigation help him reconcile with Lee?

I would say that it is does not help to improve his relationship with Lee,” Stephens revealed. “There is a turn that comes later in the season where we do see a new stage of their relationship which I don’t think anyone is going to be able to see coming in the moment. When it does happen, they actually do find themselves in a new, different place. We’re almost going to see them come together and there’s a possibility of them coming together by the end of the season. We have to wait and see if that’s really going to happen or not.”

Nygma convinces himself that he doesn’t need Penguin to succeed and begins to introduce himself to Gotham as “The Riddler.” Bullock and Lucius Fox get caught up in Nygma’s mind games, while Gordon learns troubling news about his father’s death. Meanwhile, the Court of the Owls reveals its next move.

The regular cast features: Ben McKenzie as Detective James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Morena Baccarin as Leslie Thompkins, Sean Pertwee as Alfred, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma/the future Riddler, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Drew Powell as Butch Gilzean, Maggie Geha as the future Poison Ivy, Michael Chiklis as Detective Nathaniel Barnes, and Benedict Samuel as Mad Hatter.
