It's official: the fifth episode of Gotham Season 3 has aired, and the episode leaves the city in more dire straits than ever before. The crime-ridden metropolis is currently bogged down by political mayhem and rogue human experiments who threaten to destroy Gotham for good. ComicBook.com's Chris Killian had a chance to speak with the show's Chris Chalk about the series where the actor talked Nygma, Morgan Freeman, and more.

The interviewed kicked off a brief episode recap from Killian which prompted him to ask Chalk where Lucius would be heading next week. After all, tonight's episode ended with Lucius and Bruce Wayne getting trapped in Arkham by one of Nygma's deadly puzzles. When Chalk was asked about the bad-blood between his character and Nygma, the actor said the two are definitely "arch nemeses."

"They don't like each other," Chalk said. "I don't think Nygma doesn't like Lucius as much as Lucius doesn't like Nygma, but we will get to investigate how those two continue to hurt the other one. And their hurt is an intellectual hurt - well, at least Lucius' is. Lucius isn't going to fight you or kill you, but he is going to dig into your mind."

The pair continued their discussion as it eventually turned to the topic of Morgan Freeman. Killian questioned whether Chalk practiced his 'Morgan Freeman' voice after nabbing his role to honor the former's work as Lucius in The Dark Knight trilogy.

Laughing, Chalk said he didn't practice the actor's famously deep voice. The actor did say he was a fan of Freeman's baritone vocals, but that he "did not reference him for his Lucius Fox study."

And, unsurprisingly, Killian took time to ask Chalk about his thoughts on Jerome. The fan-favorite character was seemingly offed last season before Gotham teased the villain's return with one very eerie laugh. The actor said he liked Jerome and thinks "it'd be fun to see him come back because he's so dangerous."

Chalk isn't the only person who'd like to see Jerome return to Gotham. The show's producer Ken Woodruff teased fans about the character's return earlier this summer in an interview with /Film. Woodruff said Jerome has "got to to come back one of these days."

Many had assumed the manic villain would make return to Gotham sooner rather than later. The second season finale depicted Jerome death at the hands of Theo Galavan. In a separate interview, executive producer John Stephens spoke about Jerome's return to Gotham. "It is 100% our intention to bring Jerome back,' he said.

"You'll have these underground movements that have started to talk about Jerome and what he represented and how he's going to come back like in the days of John the Baptist," he explained. "Setting the stage that if there is a Season 4, hopefully we'll bring that back in a much bigger way and you'll see these different versions of the Joker myth. He plays into the idea of transformation. When he comes back, you want to see that new version. That next step forward."
