New Justice League Concept Art and Details of Batman’s Flying Fox

One of Justice League‘s most anticipated new reveals is Batman‘s Flying Fox, the massive aerial vehicle that will transport the Justice League heroes around the globe and into battle.

In addition to new artwork of the League’s state-of-the-art plane, we also have some new quotes from Batman actor Ben Affleck. Check out what Affleck revealed about how the introduction of the Flying Fox in the film signifies a major moment of progression for Batman.

Meet The Flying Fox

According to Ben Affleck, having Batman open the doors to his crime-fighting operation and share his tech with others is a major moment of transition (read: progression) for The Dark Knight: 

“The Batman is typically kind of a loner,” Ben Affleck says. “I guess you’d call him kind of inward, you know? He brings them to the Batcave and lets them in on the central conflict of the story, who the enemy is. There’s a little bit of a Magnificent Seven aspect to it.”

It only seems right that Batman should share The Flying Fox with friends; after all, the aerial vehicle is way too big to be exclusive to just one superhero. In fact, as production designer Patrick Tatopoulos reveals: 

“I didn’t want to do a sleek airplane; it needed to feel like an extremely avant-garde classic. With the maneuverability of a jet—but it can actually carry things… You can put three Batmobiles in the lower part of it.” 

If that breakdown wasn’t clear enough, here’s a more detailed analysis of what’s going on inside of the Fox: 

“The bottom part of the jet is a huge cargo bay, which the Batmobile sits in. The second floor is like a cultural center, with computer terminals. The third story is the cockpit. Whatever floor you are on, you can see [the other] two stories.”

SYNOPSIS: In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s (Henry Cavill) selfless act, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes — Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash — it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
