In the show’s five seasons, Arrow has had an extensive cast of characters lend their support to the crusade of Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell). And while the slate of Team Arrow has changed several times throughout the course of the show, there’s no denying that each member has had their own contributions to the team.

#12 – Dinah Drake
The newest recruit of Team Arrow (played by Juliana Harkavy) has only gotten a few chances to prove herself in the field thus far. While she does have a metahuman canary cry, its unclear if she will in fact take up the mantle of Black Canary.
In the meantime, she has become a welcome member of the team, but fans will have to wait and see exactly what roleย she has going forward.
#11 – Evelyn Sharp/Artemis
Another character tied to the Black Canary mantle, Evelyn (Madison McLaughlin) turned from an antagonist of the team to an official Team Arrow member as Artemis…only to become an antagonist yet again.
While she did haveย some fighting skills and brought much-needed level headed energy to the team at the beginning of season five, she was revealed to be secretly betraying the team with the season’s big bad, Prometheus.
But don’t worry, Artemis isn’t gone for good. The show’s executive producers teased that a “really cool” twist will help bring her back onto the show later this season.ย
#10 – Curtis Holt/Mr. Terrific
Next on our list is Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), whose contributions have certainly been varied since his introduction into the show at the beginning of season four. Curtis began as Felicity’s right-hand-man while she ran Palmer Tech, andย by the end of the season, he was essentially an unofficial member of Team Arrow, helping stop Damian Darhk’sย nuclear attack on Star City.
In season five, Curtis decided to join the team for real, eventually suiting up as his comic book counterpart, Mr. Terrific. While he has helped in the field throughout this season, Curtis himself has even wondered exactly what he brings to the team.
But in the most recent episode, ‘Fighting Fire with Fire’, Curtis did find uses for his T-Sphere technology out in the field. Now that Curtis has those in his arsenal, he’s sure to be an even more helpful member of the team.
#9 – Ray Palmer/The Atom
Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) only got to lend his help to Team Arrow a handful of times before joining Legends of Tomorrow. Armed with his intricately-designed Atom suit, Ray had a hand in stopping Ra’s Al Ghulย on several occasions towards the end of season three.
Aside from that, Ray actually spent most of his season of Arrow as an adversary of Oliver, both on and off of the field. And once his Atom suit reached its full shrinking potential, it brought Ray in the hands of Damian Darhk, which led to the team needing to rescue him. While Ray has certainly proved himself on Legends, his contributions to Team Arrow are certainly unique.
#8 – Rory Regan/Ragman
While Rory (Joe Dinicol) is the most recent member of Team Arrow to depart from the team, his contributions were definitely worth noting. Armed with a series of magic Jewish rags that he could control at his whim, Rory certainly proved to be a unique asset to Team Arrow, particularly out in the field.
Off of the field, Rory found his own way to help out Team Arrow whenever necessary, particularly in the ‘Invasion!’ crossover, when his knowledge of Jewish lettering helped the team locate the Dominator spaceship.
In addition, Rory provedย that he was willing to lay down his life for the sake of the team – something that was apparent in his most recent appearance, ‘Bratva’.
#7 – Rene Ramirez/Wild Dog
Another member of the new Team Arrow, Rene (Rick Gonalez) has definitely established himself as a wild card.ย At the end of the day, Rene wants to help get the job done no matter what, which has proven to be both a positive and negative thing for the team at times.
While he stumbled throughout the first part of this season, Rene became more comfortable dealing with the high-stakes situations Team Arrow is often put in. He even has proved himself outside of the field as well, particularly in bonding with Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne) while helping him prepare for an on-camera interview.
And, as was revealed in the recent episode ‘Spectre of a Gun’, Rene has his own “island” of a backstory that makes him right at home with the rest of the team.
#6 – Thea Queen/Speedy
It’s safe to say that Thea’sย (Willa Holland) journey to become a member of Team Arrow was one of the show’sย biggest and well-earned character arcs. Oliver’s teenage sister has been a core element of the show since its pilot episode, and the show has tracked her growth from party girl to certified badass.
Theaย has brought enthusiasm and energy to the team since first suiting up as Speedy in the season three finale. While she also brought forth a lot of drama – namely with her relationship with her biological father, Malcolm Merlynย – Theaย has been a natural fit to Team Arrow.
While Theaย is technically not a member of the team anymore, she does suit up as Speedy when needed, such as in the ‘Invasion!’ crossover. And without her secret identity, Theaย has been a core part of the team this season as well, particularly through her help with her brother’s duties as mayor.
#5 – Roy Harper/Arsenal
In a way, Roy’s (Colton Haynes) introduction into Team Arrow helped make way for the recruits of today. The stubbornย protรฉgรฉย of Oliver Queen did have a wild side, leading toย him being tangled up in the nefarious Mirakuru project brought on by Deathstroke in the show’sย second season.
But overall, Roy brought a whole lot of heart to the team, and his journey to becoming Arsenal was a worthy one that many fans rooted for.
While he left the show in season three, Roy did return and help the team defeat The Calculator in the season four episode ‘Unchained,’ and could very well appear on the show again in the upcoming sixth season.
#4 – Sara Lance/The Canary
The return of Sara (Caity Lotz) to Star City in Arrow’s second season became one of the show’sย first big resurrections, and with good reason. Armed with a bow staff and a mantle of her own, Sara became a core element of Team Arrow throughout season two, and a precursor to her sister Laurel becoming Black Canary.
Sara’s skillsetย is almost too long to list here, but it’s clear that her contributions to the team both on and off the field were definitely important. In addition, Sara’s past experience on Lianย Yu had a huge hand in helping the team defeat Deathstroke at the end of season two. And when Sara was tragically killed at the beginning of season three, the event of her murder sent shockwaves through the show, and essentially set up most of the events of the season.
While Sara has since been resurrected – and is arguably at her full potential as the captain of Legends of Tomorrow – there’s no denying that she made her mark on Team Arrow.
ย
#3 – Felicity Smoak/Overwatch
While she initially entered the show as a one-off cameo, Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) quickly grew into a fan favorite, and one of the most senior members of Team Arrow.
Not only did her unintentional introduction to the team bring a large amount of comedic relief to Oliver and Diggle’sย vigilante crusade, but Felicity brought a wealth of skills with her as well. Her knowledge of technology and her hacking skills have helped the team out of more situations than can be counted. And regardless of theย current status of her relationship with Oliver, the dynamic between the two of them as teammates has become a crucial element of Team Arrow over the past couple of years, something that Stephen Amell himself recently echoed.
#2 – Laurel Lance/Black Canary
While Laurel (Katie Cassidy) only got to embody her comic counterpart of Black Canary for a little more than a season before herย tragic death, the impact of her involvement with the team has stretched far beyond that.
Aside from being Oliver’s childhood love – and one of his main motivations for surviving through his five years of hell – Laurel quickly established herself as an irreplaceable asset to Oliver’s crusade. She was one of the very first people to trust Oliver’s vigilante alter-ego, and she used her skills as a lawyer to help him and the team out of many legal situations.
After Sara’s death, Laurel was inspired to become a hero of her own, and the Black Canary was born. Armed with fighting skills, and eventually a Canary Cry device courtesy of The Flash‘s Cisco Ramon, Laurel was determined to ‘always try to save the world’, both as a part of and outside the team.ย That determination and desire to make the city a better place can still be felt in Oliver and the rest of Team Arrow after her death.ย
#1 – John Diggle/Spartan
Topping our list is the first ever recruit to Team Arrow, John Diggle (David Ramsey). Oliver’s bodyguard was initially hesitant to be a part of his crusade, but he quickly lent his expertise, and has been a mainstay of Team Arrow ever since.
Long before he officially suited up as Spartan in season four, Diggleย was a massive asset to Oliver and the rest of the team, both on and off the field. In addition, his personal relationship with Oliver has been aย consistent and (generally) positive element on the show, with the two growing to be like brothers.ย
Although Diggleย has brought forth some roadblocks for Team Arrow – such as the Suicide Squad, his brother Andy, and his recent legal troubles – he has remained one of the show’s core voices of reason. He has also helped lead the team in Oliver’s absence, both in season three and the beginning of season four.
While his aforementioned stint in jail led to him occasionally missing out on the team’s proceedings, it’s hard to imagine Team Arrow without Diggleย as a part of it.
