David Ayer’s Suicide Squad was a bit divisive out of the gate but it did manage to find it’s groove at the box office to the tune of over $600 million worldwide.

Whether you liked the ensemble film or not, you can at least appreciate the work that went into bringing a big budget film like this to the silver screen, and nowhere is that more apparent than in a recent collection of before and after visual effects shots that have made their way online (via MPC).
It’s always fascinating to see how these shots come together, and Harley Quinn is at the center of a few of them, including the scene where she is falling from Joker’s helicopter and when she was hanging from a rope ladder after Deadshot “missed”.
Diablo must have cost a small fortune just by himself, as his powers were all added in post-production. Effects pop up in some unlikely places as well, such as in the elevator of that office building in one of Harley’s action sequences. You wouldn’t necessarily assume the background is all CG here, and the same goes for a shot of a police boat, which was parked on a hitch in some parking lot, a far cry from the middle of the water with a plane in the sky as seen in the film.
