Once season three kicks off, fans won’t have long to wait to see Superman’s cousin and Lex Luthor’s half-sister team up for more adventures.
“Lena and Kara’s friendship will continue to grow,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg tells Entertainment Weekly. “There’s a lot of Lena-Kara adventures early on in this season. The most interesting thing about Lena is that she is so good, and so moral, and believes in second chances, but she comes from this family of truly evil people. As people are going to realize over the course of this season, it doesn’t take much to make you bad. People don’t just turn evil. They do one small bad thing and then that leads to another, and then to another, and so anytime you’re watching Lena, you’re always wondering, ‘Is this the moment when she does the one small thing?’”
The Supergirl cast has already given fans an idea of how the show’s third season will kick off. The cast also told ComicBook.com that fans should expect at least one truly epic action sequence in the season’s first episode.
“There’s an insane sequence in that first episode that was really tough to film, and I think is going to look great,” star Melissa Benoist (Kara Danvers/Supergirl) said.
Kara and Lena isn’t the only relationship that fans are rooting for. On the more romantic side of the spectrum, the relationship between Kara’s sister, Alex, and Detective Maggie Sawyer still has a future, despite actress Floriana Lima’s schedule being too packed for her to have a recurring role this season. Fans will also get to meet Maggie’s father in season three.
The third season of Supergirl may also introduce a sexy older female Kryptonian into the mix, though what role this new character would play is still unclear.
Supergirl will return to The CW for its third season on Oct. 9, 2017.
