What will be coming around for Supergirl in the next few weeks as the show rumbles on toward its finale? Well, among other things, the Girl of Steel will have to figure out who is on her side -- and utilize those connections -- in order to fight battles on two fronts with both Rhea the Daxamite queen and Project Cadmus.
"She's going to have to figure out how to balance it all," series star Melissa Benoist told TVLine of her character. "There might be people she has to ally with and people who will be her clear enemies, so it's a lot of juggling."
Just who might she be allying herself with? Well, we're going to assume that the prime suspect is Lena Luthor, who recently was announced as returning for next season with actress Katie McGrath's role upped to series regular in the show's third year.
Of course, another possibility is that Supergirl could be forced to work with Cadmus, the alien-hating extremists with whom she's been feuding all season, in order to repel a Daxamite invasion -- or with the Daxamites to put a stop to Cadmus, if they continue to spin out of control. Setting up two major villains in order to pit one against the other seems like a pretty natural move for a superhero show, after all.
Supergirl airs Monday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. New episodes return next week. You can see the official synopsis for that episodes, titled "Ace Reporter," below.
Lena's (guest star Katie McGarth) ex-boyfriend, Jack Spheer (guest star Rahul Kohli), comes to National City to unveil his big breakthrough in nano-technology, which has the potential to eradicate all diseases. Lena asks Kara to attend Jack's conference with her for support. When Kara sees Snapper (guest Star Ian Gomez) in attendance she's inspired to tap back into her reporter skills and questions Jack on his discovery, which ultimately leads to a bigger investigation that puts everyone in danger.
Armen V. Kevorkian directed the episode written by Paula Yoo & Caitlin Parrish.
