Rick Gonzalez and Julia Harkavy, who play Wild Dog and Black Canary, will join Katie Cassidy (Black Siren) as series regulars for the 2017-2018 season.

Wild Dog is a gun-toting vigilante created in the 1980s by A History of Violence writer Max Allan Collins and artist Terry Beatty. In the comics, he has had a fairly unremarkable career since his original series was cancelled in 1988, but on Arrow he became one of the most frequently-used and fully-developed members of Team Arrow.

Dinah Drake, the third character on Arrow to wear the Black Canary costume and the second to use the name, is named for the Earth-2 iteration of the character in the comics, who was a member of the Justice Society in the Golden Age.

The pair joined Mister Terrific (Echo Kellum), Artemis (Madison McLaughlin), and Ragman (Joe Dinicol) to form a new Team Arrow at the start of season 5 following the exits of Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) at the end of season 4.

Each of the two characters were featured in episodes that centered entirely or largely around them in season 5, with the gun violence-themed “Spectre of the Gun” filling in some of the blanks in Wild Dog’s past and a the first couple of episodes where Dinah appeared on the series spotlighting her personality and the team’s decision to bring her on board.

The next episode of Arrow, titled “Dangerous Liaisons,” comes in two weeks.
