Last night the CW Seed series Vixen came to television in a two-hour event airing a compilation of all twelve episodes of the animated series under the name Vixen: The Movie. Unfortunately, Vixen‘s first outing on the network appears to have been a flop.

The Wrap reports that Vixen tanked in the ratings with a viewership of less than 700,000 people tuning in to see Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke) fight crime with her magical totem-granted animal-inspired powers. The poor reception lead to The CW finishing seventh overall in the evening’s ratings.

What this means for Vixen, whose episodes first appeared online two years ago, is unclear but the character’s impact continues to be felt within the Arrowverse. Mari made her live-action debut in Arrow‘s fourth season where she helped Team Arrow rescue Oliver’s son in ‘Taken’ and Mari’s grandmother, Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) joined Legends of Tomorrow in its second season. Furthering Vixen’s influence, Mari’s villainous sister Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor) is joining Legends in season three. Kuasa had a significant role in Vixen‘s second season which is set to be addressed in Legends.

Legends of Tomorrow returns to Tuesday nights at 9 p.m., following new episodes of The Flash, in October.

Once reunited, the Legends will challenge the Time Bureau’s authority over the timeline and insist that however messy their methods may be, some problems are beyond the Bureau’s capabilities. Some problems can only be fixed by Legends.
