The news of the possible transition to the Switch comes from an interview between Miketendo64 and European Brand Manager Richard Jones, an interview that was largely focused on the Switch game Super Bomberman R. However, the interview opened up with some questions about future games that Konami hopes to consider when making games for the Switch, and one that Jones specifically mentioned was the Castlevania series.
“All I can say is that there is lots of internal discussions going on within Konami regarding what games we can bring to the Nintendo Switch,” Jones said when asked about which Konami games that company would be looking to add to the console in the future. He went on to say that he and the company are both aware of how loved the Bomberman and Castlevania games are as well as the heritage that both of the games carry.
He continued his discussions about Castlevania by bringing up the news of the new animated Netflix series based off of the Castlevania games that’s been scheduled to release in July. After mentioning how the fans love the games and their history, he noted “that Castlevania is getting its own show on Netflix and because of that, we’re hearing a lot of desires from our fans for a new Castlevania series.”
The news that they’re looking into bringing the games to the Switch is promising, especially when combined with the upcoming release of the Netflix series. Based on the reception of the series, it may be enough to push Konami further in the right direction, but for now, they say that they don’t have any solid plans yet.
“So we do know there is a demand for a new game, but right now nothing is set in stone as the discussions are still on going,” Jones said as he closed out his talk of Castlevania.
The animated Castlevania series in question had its first trailer released in May, and the series will certainly be geared towards a more mature audience. July 7 is when the series will debut on Netflix, but before that, you can check out some glimpses of the upcoming show in the included photo gallery.
