In the latest episode, Ash and Pikachu return to the Kanto region and reunite with Brock and Misty, Ash’s first travel companions and two of his best friends. However, Ash didn’t travel alone; he brought his classmates and new friends from the Alola region with him.
As Ash, Brock, and Misty show off the Kanto region’s Pokemon to Ash’s classmates at Professor Oak’s lab, Misty bonds with a fellow Water-type trainer, Lana. At one point, Lana and Misty go for an impromptu swim and Misty strips down in what can only be described as some light fan service for the folks who still have a crush on Misty after all these years.
However, it’s what Misty has underneath her familiar tank top and shorts that’s the real surprise. Misty’s swimsuit is a strapless two-piece that should be familiar to anyone who played Pokemon Red and Blue.

Yup, that’s the exact same outfit that Misty wore as a Gym Leader in the original Pokemon games. Thanks to Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, we even know that’s the same color swimsuit that Misty wore during her first appearance in the series.
Here’s another look at Misty’s retro swimsuit, complete with cameo appearances by Ash’s Totodile and Corphish.
Props to Corphish for being the only one of Ash’s old non-Kanto/Johto Pokemon to show up#Anipoke pic.twitter.com/FSLrrSeBEC

The episode had plenty of surprise appearances and cameos, as everyone from Bulbasaur to Squirtle reappear. Team Rocket even brought back their original motto and intro for the occasion.
Ash’s return to Kanto will continue next week in Japan and will air in the United States sometime in December or January.
