New missions, loot, and limited-time sales are coming to League of Legends to commemorate the upcoming Worlds tournament.

The first of all of the Worlds events kicks off on Sept. 21, two days before the first game of the Worlds play-in stage begins the weeks of intense competition. While players watch their favorite teams climb through the stages and shoot for the first-place spot that’ll earn them a sizeable prize pool and the championship spot until next year, tons of in-game content will provide ways to earn your own rewards while repping your chosen team.
From missions to mystery skins, the Worlds competition is shaping up to be an exciting event even for players that aren’t particularly interested in the professional scene.
Weekly Missions
To bring the big plays to the small screens, weekly missions are coming soon for League players to show their skills and earn special loot.
Players will be able to take on missions divided into different categories to represent four vital parts of League: Skill, Resilience, Teamwork, and Courage, each of them portrayed in the announcement by professionalย clipsย like the one above. From stealing Barons to unleashing insane wombo combos on your enemies, these missions are expected to be pretty difficult to reflect the spirit of Worlds and the qualities that it takes for professional teams to take home the win.
Completing these missions will grant players Worlds Tokens, a form of crafting loot that can then be turned into other rewards.
Craftable Loot
By completing the weekly missions, players will earn special Worlds loot in the form of tokens that can be used to craft icons, Key Fragments, and even chromas.
The tokens don’t expire until Dec. 4, and the options for cashing in on the Worlds loot can be found below:
- 15 Blue Essence: 5 Worlds Tokens
- Key Fragment: 20 Worlds Tokens
- Worlds Orb: 80 Tokens
- Worlds Legacy Orb: 100 Worlds Tokens
- Championship Ashe Icon and Border: 120 Worlds Tokens
- Championship Ashe Golden Chroma and 2017 Golden Championship Ward: 320 Worlds Tokens
A Worlds Master Pass will also be available in the store soon, a ticket that’ll grant players access to the 2017 Worlds Master Icon, a rare Gemstone, and two additional missions per week. It starts at 1300 RP, but the price will drop each week as missions expire.
The Worlds Orbs
Inside of those Worlds Orbs that were previously mentioned as craftable loot are special skin shards with the shot at some rare bonus drops as well.
Worlds Orb:ย 250 RP
- Random Skin Shard
- Bonus Drops – Orb/Gemstone/Hextech Exclusive Shard
Worlds Legacy Orb:ย 295 RP
- Random Legacy Skin Shard
- Bonus Drops – Orb/Gemstone/Hextech Exclusive Shard
Aside from being craftable with the Worlds Tokens, the limited-time Worlds Orbs can also be bought with RP individually or in bundles from Oct. 24 โ Nov. 5. The individual prices are listed above, but a 10-pack of each with one bonus orb can be purchased for 2500 RP or 2950 RP for the Worlds Orb and Worlds Legacy Orb, respectively.
Team Icons and Emotes
When it comes to representing your favorite professional team, the best way to do that is throwing up a special emote after a major outplay or a pentakill, and the upcoming emotes and icons will allow players to do just that.
Team icons and their corresponding emotes will return as 450 RP bundles available until Oct. 8, and after that, you’ll have to buy them separately for 250 RP each. Part of the sales will go towards the team that the icon/emote represents, and when you equip the icons during Worlds, a special team tag will be added to your in-game name for the duration of the match.
The special Worlds 2017 Legend Emote and Icon loot items will also be sold bundled and individually for the same prices, but once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
Mystery Loot and Baron Steals
Adding to the in-store deals is the chance to buy mystery items with randomized loot as well as special challenges that’ll increase your chance at better rewards.
Available in a couple of different options, players can buy a skin, champion, or a chest for different RP prices from Oct. 4โ23:
- Mystery Skin: 490 RP
- Mystery Champion: 490 RP
- Mystery Chest: 790 RP
The details of each item can be found here, but expect to receive some pretty rare stuff if you’re lucky.
Nabbing pentakills and stealing Barons will also improve your chances of getting better loot. Every time a pro player gets a pentakill or steals the enemy team’s Baron, players will have their chance of getting Legendary or esports skins from the mystery items doubled, stacking up to four times the chance. The increased chances will reset with every stage of Worlds.
Esports Skins
Esports skins are also returning to the store for a limited time that begins on Sept. 22 and will end on the final day of the Worlds competition.
Reintroducing Championship, Challenger, and Team Champions skins, the following bundles will be available:

Map Accents and Pick’Em
To top everything off, special map accents for Summoner’s Rift and Worlds Pick’Em are both returning to bring the competitions to every player.
Festive decorations will be draped around the Rift both in the lanes and on the surrounding walls during Worlds to remind players of the massive competition, and players can try their hand at picking winners through a bracket system.
By filling out your bracket and picking the teams that you think will go the furthest during Worlds, players have a shot at winning exclusive Pick’Em poro icons, Worlds Tokens, and a huge set of Ultimate skins if you’re able to pick the results perfectly.
