The ongoing battle against PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds cheaters is still being feverishly fought with over 1 million PUGB players being banned in January alone.

Cheating in PUBG or any other game is nothing new, but the acclaimed battle royale game seems to especially have a problem with the issue. Complete with various hacks and cheats that are frequently seen in FPS games, PUBG players have been utilizing these immoral strategies far before the game was fully released. However, an anti-cheating service known as BattlEye that works with PUBG to ban players has been taking out cheaters left and right with the service confirming on Sunday that over a million players were banned in January.

BattlEye has been working to ban these players for some time now with the service continually tweeting how many players had been banned during certain intervals. As the account pointed out though, cheating is still rampant in PUBG with more players joining in the battle royale game and doing whatever it takes to be the last man standing, even if that means playing unfairly.

More recently, the PUBG team also stated that there were new measures being implemented to prevent the rampant cheating. Among new anti-cheat features being put in place and improvements coming for the in-game report feature, one of the biggest changes was the removal of the account sharing feature that allowed players to play through the family sharing system on Steam.

"We have an announcement for those of you using family sharing on Steam," said Dohyung Lee, head of service management and anti-cheat." We had allowed this feature so that the account holders who own PUBG can use their character with other Steam accounts if they wanted to. However, we have decided to deactivate this feature because we have identified a number of vulnerabilities that are being exploited. Please understand that we are introducing this measure to fight abuse and ensure a fair environment."

Keep checking back with the BattlEye Twitter account to track just how many PUBG cheaters continue to be banned in the future.
