It's finally time. Today Bungie is showing off, for the first time ever, official Destiny 2 gameplay. We've got a full afternoon of streaming goodness, but before all of your favorite YouTubers and content creators get their hands-on time with Destiny 2, we'll all get a look at the game in motion together -- right here. Hang out with us and enjoy the stream below, and stick around. We're going to be going over every major announcement and wrapping up the big reveals after the stream concludes. Let's watch:
There are a few things that we know about Destiny 2 already, but Bungie has miraculously been able to keep the major details from leaking before today's big reveal. We know that this will be a fresh start for Destiny players, and our original guardians and gear will not be transferring from the original game. That's okay with us as long as the story is coherent and engaging, and we can't wait to see what kind of social and questing tweaks are made.
More than anything, we're hoping to get a firm grasp on what kind of gameplay mechanics are migrating from the first game. Destiny felt fantastic already as a shooter, and not much needed to be changed there. What we need more than anything are competent party options, matchmaking, engaging side-quests, events that are worth a damn, and of course, more loot.
From the original reveal update: "This is a new beginning for every player. We know you have questions about the worlds you’ll explore, the enemies you’ll fight, the powers you’ll master, and (as Cayde promised) the loot you’ll earn. All will be answered in the weeks and months to come. It should be a hell of a ride.
"This summer will be your chance to get your hands on a controller. You’ll be invited to help us prepare for the launch of Destiny 2 by joining an open Beta. Players who pre-order will be the first to jump into action, but we’ll be calling on all Guardians to give their feedback.
"There will be so many other stops to make on the road to September 8. The journey that leads to Destiny 2 will circle the globe and span the solar system. We’ve only fired the first shot."
