EA Announces the Shutdown of Four Different Games

In October, EA is shutting down four different games. Now, it has announced that another four games are being shut down on March 16, 2026. Electronic Arts has not provided any reason why it is shutting down any of the four games, but shutdowns are usually the result of two things: expiring licenses or the cost of keeping and maintaining online servers. All four games have both licensing and online servers, so in this regard, they are a double whammy.

The first of the four EA games is 2012’s Dirt Showdown, a PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 game. Joining it is Dirt 3, which was released for the same platforms back in 2011. Both of these Dirt games were made by Codemasters, as were the other two games included in the announcement: Grid Autosport and Grid 2. The former is a 2014 game that was released on Nintendo Switch, mobile devices, PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. Rounding out the foursome of games shutting down early next year is Grid 2, a 2013 release for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Another EA Game Shutting Down in 2025

With these four games, we now have five EA games shutting down in early 2026. The fifth is more notable, though, and it’s BioWare’s Anthem. Back in July, EA announced the shutdown of this 2019 flop, which is specifically set to shut down on January 12, 2026, two months before the four Codemasters’ games.

So Far, Not Too Bad

While it’s not great to see five EA games shutting down at the start of 2026, the four Codemasters’ games are not that noteworthy. Not only are they over a decade old, each, but nobody is playing any of them in 2025. This isn’t going to change in 2026. To suffice to say, these shutdowns won’t impact many. Anthem shutting down is more noteworthy, for the opposite end of these exact reasons, but also still not that surprising. After all, it is one of the big flops of the last decade, and a game both EA and BioWare will be happy to let fade into history.

What’s not been fading to history is a fellow EA flop from 2021, which, unlike Anthem, is experiencing a resurgence and a brief second life. That said, it itself will almost certainly shut down one day as well. All of that said, and as always, feel free to leave a comment letting us know what you think. Which of these EA games will you miss the most?
