One Artist Makes An Old School Flip Book Tribute To Mortal Kombat, It’s Actually Really Impressive

Gamers always find awesome new ways to pay tribute to their favourite franchises; whether it be with an amazing cosplay, building a sweet replica, or just some good ‘ol fashioned art – the creativity of the gaming community never ceases. Many of us when we were younger would make silly little flip book art to pass the time. Little stick figure configurations that as each page passes makes the scene come alive. One artist took that beloved past-time and actually made a really fun tribute to a franchise that has been around since 1992: Mortal Kombat.

The 25th anniversary of this beloved franchise recently passed and we made our own little tribute to the outstandingly brutal series. To commemorate this powerhouse in gaming culture that has spawned countless TV shows, books, movies, and more – one Redditor took a more old school route:

It’s simple, but detailed at the same time. To see familiar characters and brutality brought to life in a more nostalgic manner is pretty spiffy for any Mortal Kombatย fan. It may not be an epic masterpiece or the world’s most perfected cosplay, but small tributes like this show the dedication and heart of gamers and their love for franchises that have been a part of their lives in an intricateย way.

From the humble arcade beginnings back in 1992, to the power house use of modern technology with Mortal Kombatย XL in 2016 – the Mortal Kombatย legacy shows no signs of slowing down and for that, we are thankful.ย
