God of War will have plenty of new elements to explore when it releases this year, but a season pass won’t be part of the package, according to the game’s director.

Cory Barlog, the game director for God of War, has been fielding question after question on Twitter from God of War fans eager to get their hands on the next game. But with how prevalent season passes, “games as services,” and DLC are now in many AAA games, players wanted to know what to expect when it comes to future content. Barlog responded, and while he didn’t say that there would be no DLC later on, he did note that there wouldn’t be a season pass for the game. He also batted away a question about the opening of the game’s story and said that players would just have to play themselves to learn more.
No season pass. As for the story questions – you will have to wait and play the game to see how it all shakes out. I just finished another play-through last night around midnight and it was still awesome! I’m totally biased, though.

And if the previous question sessions are anything to judge by, any God of War Q&A on Twitter wouldn’t be complete without more than a few players hopefully requesting a release date for the game, an announcement that hasn’t been revealed just yet. While some questioners hoped to plan their sick days around the release date of God of War in order to explore the Norse setting that’s full of mythology and battles, Barlog said there’s no release date just yet but advised players set aside some time for God of War.
No, sorry. With all the awesome games set to come out in 2018, I think it will be safe to tell your boss you will need to take the year off ๐ I know I will be taking a ton of time to sleep and play games when I finish God of War!

God of War doesn’t have a release date but is scheduled to release sometime this year.
