Polyphony Digital is putting a painstaking amount of effort into its latest Gran Turismo game, Gran Turismo Sport, which will serve as the franchise debut on PlayStation 4. But just how beautiful will the game run when it arrives? Digital Foundry recently posted some videos to provide a pretty good idea.

The team captured some gameplay footage from the recent beta for Sport, which is currently running in a closed beta format. With it, players have access to a number of vehicles and tracks to get an idea of what the final game will offer once it eventually arrives.
There’s good news for those of you with high-end televisions. The game will fully support 4K resolution across the board, and will also feature a checkerboard upscaling to render a resolution of 1800p. That’s way better than the standard 1440p resolution that other games have been utilizing with the PlayStation 4 Pro.
What’s more, the game will have a steady frame rate across the board, running at a very beautiful 60 frames per second. While this can’t quite be confirmed for the original PlayStation 4 hardware (it’s more than likely โ Polyphony isn’t a company that usually skimps on the details), it is confirmed for the PlayStation 4 Pro, so if you have that system, you should be good to go.
According to Digital Foundry, Polyphony was able to achieve this kind of performance simply by utilizing additional power from the PlayStation 4 Pro’s GPU through a cross balance, by taking off support for 4K downsampling.
As you can see from the videos โ which you can find below โ there’s no shortage of visual beauty in the games thus far. The car models look absolutely breathtaking, and the track design is second-to-none, similar to previously released Gran Turismo games. So, yeah, this could easily be a game that sets a new trend for the PlayStation 4 Pro when it eventually arrives.
Sony is sure to have additional details on when Gran Turismo Sport will release next month, when its pre-E3 press conference rolls around. From what we understand, though, the game will arrive later this year for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro โ just in time to get everyone in a good racing mood.
