Super Moves are definitely one of the highlights of Injustice 2. From the Flash’s over-the-top time-travelling beatdown, to the Joker’s brutal callback to Jason Todd’s death, most of the game’s Super Moves are impressive and pretty darn creative, and yet, they do eventually get old when you’re stuck passively watching the same elaborate sequence play out for the 100th time.
Ah, but it turns out Super Moves are more interactive than you might think! If you press the heavy attack button in time with the blows your character lands during the Super Move, you’ll score extra damage. You’ll know you’re getting a bonus if a little red shield with crossed swords appears under your life bar.

YouTuber Enkindu demonstrates the technique in the video, above. First, he pulls off a basic version of Aquaman’s Super Move, and then he does it with the timed button presses โ the difference isn’t huge, but he clearly scores a small damage bonus. These are the kind of little things that can decide a match!
Oh, and this trick also works if you’re on defense. If you time the button presses correctly while on the receiving end of a Super Move, a blue shield will appear under your life bar, and the amount of damage your absorb will be decreased. Presumably, if both the attacker and the defender are mashing buttons, whoever times the presses better will get the benefit.
I’m sure some hardcore fighting fans will turn their noses up at this kind of simple timing game being included in Injustice 2, but NetherRealm games have always been for the slightly more casual fan. Personally, I’m glad they’ve included something to keep the game’s Super Moves engaging.
