The development team at Insomniac Games has been on a role lately, based on everything we’ve seen from its forthcoming Spider-Man project for PlayStation 4. That’s going to be something special.

But with the new, the company is shutting down a little bit of the old, as it announced on the PlayStation website that it’s going to be shutting down servers for its classic Ratchet & Clank games for PlayStation 3, mainly with multiplayer for Up Your Arsenal and Deadlocked.
Online services for Ratchet and Clank: Up your Arsenal PS3 and Ratchet: Deadlocked PS3, including multiplayer and other network features, will be discontinued as of February 15, 2018. Thanks for playing!” the team noted.
Up Your Arsenal originally released as part of the Ratchet & Clank Collection for PS3, featuring the first three games in the series spruced up for play on PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, Deadlocked HD, also based on a previous PS2 game, was a digital release. Both games included strong single player action, along with multiplayer support.
It’s a shame, because the multiplayer modes in both games are quite fun, with innovative rules and a slew of players flocking to get into the action. But, alas, your fun will soon end.
At the very least, though, you still have a few days to jump in and join in the fun. And Insomniac will supposedly host one last session on Twitch, so it can celebrate with fans in style.
An exact reason wasn’t given for the server shutdown, but it seems to be a trend lately, with Sony and other companies shutting down older online servers to make room for services for forthcoming games. And considering that Spider-Man may have some kind of networking features (not confirmed yet, but who knows?), Insomniac is prepping to make that game everything it can be.
So if you have either the Ratchet & Clank Collection or Deadlocked HD, here’s your chance to jump in one last time and enjoy the chaos before the party comes to a close right after Valentine’s Day. Get in there and hit some folks with a groovy weapon for us!
Spider-Man will release this year for PlayStation 4.
