It seems all four classic PS2 Jak and Daxter games have been re-rated for the PS4 by the ESRB. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy was handed an E, while Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing here given T ratings for “comic mischief, language, mild violence, and suggestive themes.” Typically, games are only rated by the ESRB if they’re finished and ready to ship, so the Jak and Daxter games could launch at pretty much any time.

Earlier this year Sony announced the Jak and Daxter series would be making its way to PS4 as part of the PS2 Classics line. Jak and Daxter aren’t getting the full remaster/remake treatment like Crash Bandicoot, but the PS2 originals will be getting 1080p up-rendering and Trophy support. you can check out a brief trailer for the Jak and Daxter re-releases at the top of this post.

Jak and Daxter was Naughty Dog’s attempt to push the 3D platformers of the N64/PSOne era to the next level, introducing open-world environments, varied gameplay, and a heavier emphasis on story. The series was popular, selling over 8 million copies combined, but Naughty Dog left poor Jak and Daxter behind when they started developing Uncharted in 2005.

We still don’t have an arrival date for these re-releases, but the original Jak and Daxter is a pre-order bonus for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, which hits on August 23, so expect them sometime before then!
