For the past few years, Microsoft, Double Helix Games and Iron Galaxy Studios have been getting a lot of mileage out of fighting nostalgia, as the Killer Instinct franchise has gained a huge community with three seasons' worth of fighters, including favorites like General RAAM from Gears of War and one of the Battletoads. (Now that's a fight we'd pay to see.)

But now, the game is setting out to find a new audience, this time on Steam. Microsoft has confirmed today that the popular fighting game is now available on Valve's game service, which can be purchased here. The game is set for a price of $39.99, though you can get it right now for 25 percent off, going for $29.99. It includes all the content from the three seasons of the game, including the 29 characters and 20 stages that are available, as well as the Shadow Lords team-based campaign that was introduced some time ago.

The game has seen over 10 million players since its creation back in late 2013, becoming one of the biggest fighting games on the Xbox One and Windows PC front. Now, a new generation can enjoy the game for all its worth, and in complete form.

And Microsoft also confirmed that the game will be compatible with cross-network play, so that fans can enjoy fighting against opponents across Steam, Windows PC and Xbox One without missing a beat.

"The legendary fighting franchise is back with over-the-top action, a wild cast of combatants, rocking reactive music, and C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERS!!! Choose your ultimate combatants each with fluid animations, unique combat tactics, and enthralling special attacks," the game's description reads. And if you grew up with the classic Killer Instinct games from Nintendo and Rare, you already have a good idea just how "combo-riffic" the game is.

As far as what the future holds for the franchise, Iron Galaxy isn't talking yet. But this is a good time to get on board and enjoy the crazy action that the game has managed to build up over the past four years – and for a pretty good price, at that. KING COMBO!
