If you haven’t played Little Nightmares, you’re missing out on one of the creepiest games to come along in a while. In my review of the game I called Little Nightmares “a brief, yet potent jolt to the system,” featuring art direction and atmosphere that made up for its short length. Well, it seems the game is going to be getting longer!
Last month Little Nightmares developers Tarsier Studios teased DLC featuring a new character, and now they’ve made it official. Here’s how they describe the Little Nightmares: Secrets of the Maw expansion pass:

“Can’t get enough of Little Nightmares? Unveil all the secrets of The Maw in a parallel escape story where you play as the Runaway Kid, another prisoner looking for a way out of this place of misfortune. On his journey, The Kid will explore The Depths, The Hideway and another hidden part of The Maw offering a different perspective on Six’s adventures as well as new challenges to overcome.
In the first chapter, The Depths, The Runaway Kid explores the foul and murky sewers as he tries to escape from an insidious threat that lurks underwater. In November, players will be taken to The Hideway, a machine-themed section where the Nomes reside. The third and final chapter will be releasing in January 2018, and will ultimately determine the fate of The Runaway Kid.”
As described above, Little Nightmares: Secrets of the Maw will be split into three chapters, which, together, will cost $10. According to Tarsier, each DLC chapter will be about the size of a chapter from the original game, but will take longer as the puzzles will be more difficult. I suspect each will last about an hour.
Little Nightmares is available now for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. The first Secrets of the Maw chapter arrives in July.
