Insomniac Games has revealed a new cosmetic that will appear in Marvel’s Wolverine while also confirming the game’s launch date. Within the past day, a new trailer for Wolverine hit the internet and showed off five of the different suits that Wolverine himself will be able to wear in-game. These outfits are specifically ones that will be locked to the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game, but will be joined by numerous other cosmetics that haven’t yet been shown off. Now, to celebrate a new milestone, Insomniac has provided a glimpse at what one of these will be.

As a way of celebrating Marvel’s Wolverine going gold, Insomniac revealed a brief new clip from the game. If you’re not familiar with the term “going gold”, it essentially means that Insomniac has now completed all of its work on Wolverine and can begin the manufacturing and shipping process. This announcement also verifies that Marvel’s Wolverine isn’t in danger of being hit with a last-minute delay and will indeed meet its September release date.
The new footage in question happened to tie in with this news, as it shows Wolverine popping gold versions of his claws. In a subsequent post, Insomniac verified that these gold claws are ones that will be present in Marvel’s Wolverine and will be equippable for players. Although it’s a small nugget of information, it’s still yet another fun reveal that continues Wolverine’s push toward release.
Currently, Insomniac hasn’t provided an official count when it comes to the number of suit and claw variants that will appear in Marvel’s Wolverine. Most of the suits, in particular, are expected to be ones that have previously been seen across Wolverine’s appearances in TV, film, and comic books. Insomniac has also confirmed that it will be providing its own unique looks for Logan to this mix as well, meaning that there will be plenty of cosmetics never seen anywhere else.
As for the claws, they’re expected to be much different in nature than most seen throughout Wolverine’s extensive history. Outside of these golden claws, Insomniac has also shown off some serrated variants along with others that are meant to look smoothed out. All of these different claw and suit offerings will allow players to mix-and-match to create their own version of Wolverine while they’re playing through the game for themselves.
Marvel’s Wolverine is set to finally release next month on September 15th and will be coming exclusively to PS5. While past Insomniac titles have also eventually landed on PC, Wolverine seems unlikely to continue this trend, as PlayStation as a whole is moving away from supporting the platform with its own first-party titles.
