MLB The Show 17 garnered solid reviews when it launched in late March, but it wasn’t without its issues. The game’s most horrifying bugs were stamped out before its arrival, but frustrating server issues weren’t. Lag, disconnections, and other online issues have been far too prevalent since launch.

Thankfully, developer SIE San Diego has been working to fix the problems behind the scenes, and as a make good, they’re giving players a large pile of Stubs, the in-game currency used to buy card packs, players, and pretty much everything else in the game. Here’s what SIE San Diego had to say about the MLB The Show 17 server issues and subsequent giveaway:
“We’re less than happy with unexpected server issues that have accompanied the launch of MLB The Show 17 and know you are too โ for this we apologize. We’ve been working without pause to address a number of server and gameplay issues to restore the online experience we had hoped to achieve at launch. Some of these changes have been made visible to our community in the form of patches and in-game messages, while other upgrades haven’t been publicized, in the form of back end server updates.
As a token of apology, as well as a thank you to our dedicated community for helping us identify these issues and for your patience as we’ve worked to address them, we are extending a make good offer to anyone who meets the criteria.”
Basically, if you’ve played MLB The Show 17 sometime between launch on March 28 and May 11, you automatically get 10 card packs and 11,000 Stubs. It should be noted that Stubs can be bought with real money, with an 11,000 Stub pack usually costing $10, so this apology has real cash value.
If you’ve been one of those experiencing MLB The Show 17 online issues, hopefully this little giveaway gets you back in the game!
