When the Nintendo Switch first launched back in March, there was a flurry of stories about the system’s various hardware quirks and flaws. Some of those problems, like the left Joy-Con de-syncing with the system, have since been fixed, but others persist even though they’re no longer being widely reported on. Specifically, it seems the Nintendo Switch charging dock is still warping some unfortunate players’ systems.

For those who missed out on this story the first time around, playing the Nintendo Switch for extending periods of time while it’s in the charging dock may cause the unit to overheat and warp. My Switch spends most of its time in the charging dock, and I haven’t had any issues with overheating or warping, but numerous people have provided images proving the issue exists.

Well, Kotaku has continued to keep abreast of the warping issue, and has found players tweeting about the issue as recently as this month. The issues seem to be particularly prevalent in Japan โ whether that has to do with bad stock or Japan simply being warmer than here, is unknown.

So, what does Nintendo have to say about all this? On their customer service site, they seem pretty willing to step up and solve the problem:
“If you’re having issues where the Nintendo Switch appears bent or warped, please contact Nintendo Support so we can get a repair started for you!”
Although some folks effected by the issue got a less satisfying reply:
on the phone with nintendo, calling to tell them my switch warped…they respond with “is it effecting gameplay?”

wtf
Unfortunately, it seems like the warping issue is a Switch manufacturing flaw that may be hard to, ahem, iron out. If you’ve noticed your Switch getting too hot or warping, contact Nintendo Customer Support to get things sorted.
